Our History
Back in 1995, a small group of dedicated dental professionals based in South Florida joined forces to create a progressive new force in dental care. They shared the same high standards and the same lofty goals, the same fundamental values and the same ambitious vision. As successful as these professionals were on their own, they realized that they could serve their patients even better by banding together. By combining their considerable talents, these dental professionals could create a collaborative environment where they would be free to exchange ideas, advice and expertise, providing patients with a level of personalized care second to none.
The result was Towncare Dental – and the rest is history. A thriving family of 28 state-of-the-art offices, Towncare Dental is the dental care provider of choice for thousands of Floridians from Ft. Lauderdale to Ft. Myers, West Palm Beach to Winter Park. To honor Towncare Dental’s commitment to the public good, each practice remains actively involved in the community it serves through such innovative outreach programs as Share the Smiles.
Dr. Melvin Gober, CEO
A true visionary, Dr. Gober was one of the primary forces behind the creation and remarkable growth of Towncare Dental. After earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1971, he became a highly respected dental practitioner revered by both his patients and his colleagues.
Dr. Gober cofounded Oral Health Services in 1979; at one point, it was the largest dental insurer in Florida. He went on to develop and manage a number of successful practices before uniting six South Florida dental offices under the name Towncare Dental in 1995. Today, Dr. Gober continues to impart his wisdom and work ethic to an eager new generation of dental professionals at Towncare Dental.
Michael Bileca, President
The executive responsible for keeping Towncare Dental’s day-to-day operations running smoothly, Mr. Bileca joined the company as its first Chief Financial Officer in 1995. He was named President later that same year – a title he has also held at Towncare Dental’s subsidiary, Main Street Children’s Dentistry and Orthodontics, since its inception in 2005.
Armed with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Tulane University, Mr. Bileca received his MBA from the prestigious Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. In his leadership capacity at Towncare Dental, he oversees everything from financial and performance reporting to human resources to marketing. He also created the company’s innovative training and development systems, implemented information systems and standardized dental operations to increase efficiency and elevate the level of care Towncare Dental is able to offer its patients.
Dr. Dan Nichols, Dental Director
As Dental Director, Dr. Nichols sees to it that each practice in the Towncare Dental family faithfully adheres to the high standards set forth by the company’s founders. He works closely with our Regional Managers on day-to-day operations and performs quality assurance evaluations to ensure that our patients continue to receive the finest possible care.
In addition to recruiting and transitioning promising new doctors into the Towncare Dental family, Dr. Nichols shapes their ongoing educational curriculum and mentors them on clinical patient matters and best practices operations. After graduating from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry with a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1987, he opened his own practice in Charlotte, North Carolina. Before joining Towncare Dental in 2005, Dr. Nichols worked with Practice Synergistics, a dental consulting company created by Towncare Dental President Mike Bileca.
Dr. Don Gallo, Chief Dental Officer
Dr. Don Gallo brings more than 30 years of hands-on dental experience to the Towncare Dental management team. This includes 10 years as a group practice owner and 20 years as a dental consultant. Dr. Gallo possesses a deep understanding of the dental office operational issues combined with experience and knowledge gained consulting with large dental group practices.
A graduate of Washington University, School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis, Dr. Gallo lectures across the U.S. on case acceptance, leadership and improving operational efficiency. He has been a leader in developing professional training programs for a number of group practices. At Towncare Dental, Dr. Gallo has been instrumental in producing measurable improvements in the areas of case acceptance and patient service for our practices.
