We Are Open – Safety is Our Top Priority!
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
If you’re prepping for a dinner date, a business meeting, or other special occasion, why not revamp your smile? Teeth whitening can give you a gorgeous, radiant smile in less than an hour. It’s one of the fastest and most affordable methods of cosmetic dentistry and removes years of tooth stains and discoloration essentially in minutes.
Our office in Bonita Springs has two methods to help you achieve the results you want within your lifestyle and your budget. You can whiten your teeth during one appointment, or take home an easy-to-use kit to bleach your teeth professionally in private.
Whichever treatment you choose produces dramatic results, especially when applied after a teeth cleaning. That removes any bacteria or food particles that can contribute to tooth stains or interfere with the treatment.
Smile Perfected™: Professional In-Office Teeth Whitening
Our team in Bonita Springs offers Smile Perfected™, a professional teeth whitening procedure that takes about 20 minutes.
Smile Perfected has a patented system that combines a tooth whitening gel with an LED light to accelerate the whitening process while reducing your exposure to the ingredients. To protect against sensitivity, individual ampoules of vitamin E are part of the treatment to moisturize and protect your lips and skin.
Simply bite into a prefilled, delicious-tasting gel housed in special whitening trays. The trays are designed to allow your jaw muscles to remain relaxed and tension-free during the treatment. Best of all, it’s so fast, you can easily add this service after your teeth are clean and healthy following a regular appointment with our hygienist.
Opalescence Go®: Impressive Teeth Whitening at Home
If you prefer a different teeth whitening option, our office in Bonita Springs also provides Opalescence Go. This professional-strength product available only from dentists enables you to whiten your teeth on your own schedule.
Opalescence Go is safe and effective, and it’s ready to use right out of the box. It features innovative trays prefilled with a whitening gel that includes potassium nitrate and fluoride, two ingredients that are shown to help reduce cavities, minimize tooth sensitivity, increase the hardness of tooth enamel, and improve your teeth’s overall health.
Simply center one of the disposable trays over your upper or lower teeth and bite gently. You’ll suck down or swallow to secure the gel against your teeth, then remove the colored outer tray to reveal the clear and comfortable inner tray that you’ll wear for the treatment.
Choose between two concentrations of whitening ingredients to determine your treatment time. A 15% concentration is worn for 15 to 20 minutes a day over five to ten days. The 10% concentration is worn for about 30 to 60 minutes over the same duration.
After your daily treatment is done, just discard the tray and brush your teeth as you normally would, being careful not to swallow any remaining gel. Many people notice an incredible difference after the first few uses.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Dull, dingy, or discolored teeth affect everyone at one time or another. Our tooth color is actually a combination of the light reflected off the enamel—the surface of a tooth—and the color of the dentin, or middle layer, underneath. Our tooth color changes as we age, for instance, as tooth enamel becomes thinner while the dentin tends to grow darker.
Some people are born with thinner enamel—and more visible dentin—because of our genetic makeup. Enamel also is porous, so certain foods, beverages, and other factors can impact our tooth color.
The most common causes of tooth discoloration include:
- Tobacco products including cigarettes
- Beverages such as coffee, tea, red wines, and colas
- Certain medical treatments and medications
- Tooth decay or trauma
- Insufficient tooth brushing and flossing
If you need dental work such as a bridge, a veneer, a crown, or dentures, our dentist also might suggest that you whiten your natural teeth first to help your dental work blend in seamlessly over time. The dental porcelain used in such cosmetic and restorative treatments is color-matched to your natural teeth and stain resistant, so it doesn’t respond to whitening treatments. So if you whiten your teeth first, you can color match the artificial teeth to that brighter color. If you whiten your teeth later, your dental work will stand out.
