We are open - safety is our top priority!
Now you can say goodbye to dingy, yellow teeth in less than an hour. Teeth whitening is one of the most affordable and fastest methods of cosmetic dentistry. It helps remove years of stains and discoloration from your teeth essentially in minutes.
Our office in Aventura has several ways to help you achieve the radiant smile you want within your lifestyle, your schedule, and your budget. You can relax in our office while you whiten your teeth during one visit, or if you prefer more privacy, we offer easy-to-use take-home kits to whiten your teeth when used about 15 minutes a day.
Whichever method you choose produces noticeable results, especially when applied after a teeth cleaning. That removes any bacteria and food particles that can interfere with the whitening treatment or contribute to tooth stains.
Smile Perfected™: Professional In-Office Teeth Whitening
Our team at Dental Center at Aventura offers Smile Perfected™, a simple teeth whitening treatment that is completed right in our dental office. Best of all, it whitens your teeth professionally in about 20 minutes.
The Smile Perfected patented system removes stains and whitens teeth without the tooth sensitivity that other types of teeth whitening can cause. Simply bite into a prefilled, delicious-tasting whitening tray while our dental professional applies LED light technology to accelerate the whitening process while reducing your exposure to the ingredients. Individual ampoules of vitamin E moisturize and protect your lips and skin to further protect against sensitivity.
It’s a perfect addition to your regular dental appointment after your teeth are clean and healthy.
Lumibrite®: In-Office Teeth Whitening with Unmatched Value
Another in-office teeth whitening system we offer is Lumibrite, which produces teeth seven-to-twelve shades whiter in about an hour with minimal sensitivity. Our dental professional first will “paint” a protective barrier on your gums to shield them during the bleaching process. We’ll then use a thin layer of desensitizing gel on your teeth’s surface to protect against sensitivity before applying the whitening gel.
Although Lumibrite works quickly with a special chairside whitening light, the bleaching ingredients also provide effective results without the light. Treatment takes up to two 30 minute sessions during one visit. The protective and whitening gels wipe and rinse away clean when you’re done.
Lumibrite® Take-Home Whitening Kit: Professional Whitening with Home Convenience
If you’d prefer to whiten your teeth in the privacy of your home, our office in Aventura carries Lumibrite Take-Home Whitening Kits. You’ll be able to whiten your smile up to nine shades within one to two weeks.
Unlike our in-office treatment, each take-home kit uses carbamide peroxide, which is roughly one-third the strength of hydrogen peroxide. Although you’ll still experience professional results, you’ll have less sensitivity. Choose from three different concentrations in mint or fruit flavors to meet your preference or needs.
Each kit includes a custom-designed mouth guard where you’ll dispense a small amount of gel once or twice a day, depending on the concentration and desired results. For the highest concentration, we recommend one treatment of three minutes daily for 14 days. The lower concentrations can be worn one to two hours once or twice a day for the same length of time.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Teeth that are dingy, dull or discolored can make anyone feel self-conscious. Our tooth color actually is a combination of two factors: the light reflected off the enamel (the hard outer layer of the tooth) and the color of the dentin (the middle layer) underneath.
Our tooth color varies because of our genetic makeup, which determines the thickness and smoothness of tooth enamel. Some people have thinner enamel—and more visible dentin—than others. As we age, everyone’s teeth become less white or even yellow because the enamel thins and the dentin darkens. Enamel also is porous, so it’s susceptible to color changes from certain foods, beverages, and other habits.
The most common causes of tooth discoloration include:
- Cigarettes, cigars, and other tobacco products
- Getting older
- Dark-colored beverages such as coffee, tea, red wines, and colas
- Certain medical treatments and medications
- Cavities or trauma
- Poor dental hygiene
It’s also a good idea to whiten your teeth in preparation for dental work such as a crown, a veneer, a bridge, or dentures. The dental porcelain used in such cosmetic and restorative treatments is color-matched to your natural teeth to blend in seamlessly. Because they’re designed to be stain resistant, these dental fixtures don’t respond to whitening treatments. So if you whiten your teeth later, your crown, bridge, or other dental work will stand out.
