As anyone with traditional dentures knows, there’s nothing more frustrating than your dentures slipping or falling out when enjoying a meal or a conversation with friends. To prevent annoying slippage, more and more wearers of removable dentures are turning to a revolutionary alternative called the All-on-4® Treatment Concept. All-on-4 concept uses just four dental implants to hold your dentures securely and permanently in place. It’s quickly become the preferred choice for people who have lost their teeth due to injury, gum disease or tooth decay.
Often referred to as a permanent denture, dentures supported by All-on-4 implants offer the look and feel of natural teeth and eliminate the need for messy adhesives to hold them in place. They also eliminate the need to remove them at night to clean. With permanent dentures supported by All-on-4 implants, you brush and floss them in the mouth, just as you would natural teeth. Since you’re no longer removing them, there’s no risk of them being accidentally damaged because they fall or drop on the ground.
Our dentist at Jupiter Dental Group has received special training in the All-on-4 Treatment Concept, and many of our patients are now enjoying the benefits of no-slip dentures. Please call our office today at (561) 459-1399 to find out if All-on-4 implants are right for you.
Nobel Biocare, a world innovator in dental technology, developed the All-on-4 dental implant treatment in 1998, allowing hundreds of thousands of people to enjoy the benefits of permanent, no-slip dentures.
Traditional dental implants have been used for decades to permanently replace lost teeth. However, the surgery for traditional dental implants often requires multiple visits to the dental office for bone grafts needed to build up the jawbone to support the implants.
With All-on-4 dental implants, bone grafts are rarely needed. As a result, patients heal faster and are able to enjoy the comfort and natural appearance of their dentures supported by All-on-4 sooner. After receiving the All-on-4 implants, patients can leave the office the same day with a temporary set of dentures or, in some cases, permanent dentures. That’s why this procedure has been nicknamed “teeth-in-a-day.”
Additionally, with less-invasive surgery and fewer implants required, the All-on-4 implant procedure is typically less expensive than traditional implant surgery.
With All-on-4 dental implant therapy uses four dental implants that resemble tiny screws to permanently attach a complete set of prosthetic teeth to the lower or upper jaws.
After comfortably sedating the patient, the dentist or specialist places two titanium posts directly into the jawbone at the front of the mouth and two more posts that are tilted at a 45-degree angle in the back of the mouth. The 45-degree is the key to this revolutionary procedure. The tilted angle allows the dentist to place the implants deeper into the jawbone than is possible with traditional implants. This eliminates the need to build up the jawbone with bone grafts.
Titanium is used for the implants because this metal is most compatible with human bone. Once the implants are inserted into the jawbone, the bone begins to fuse around the implants. Within a few months, your new implants will be firmly established in the jaw, providing a permanent foundation for a denture or bridge.
Once the implants are fused to the jawbone, the dentist can attach a permanent bridge or denture that has been custom-made to match the shade and shape of your natural teeth. With the convenience, comfort and appearance of real teeth, no one will ever guess that you have prosthetic teeth.
In addition to providing a stable, permanent foundation for a complete row of teeth, your All-on-4 dental implants have the additional advantage of preventing your jawbone from deteriorating. With the loss of teeth and the roots that support them, the jawbone degrades over time, giving people a haggard appearance. All-on-4 dental implants prevent further deterioration the face looks fuller and more youthful.
