If you wear traditional removable dentures, you’ve probably experienced the embarrassment of your dentures slipping or falling out when you’re trying to enjoy a meal or engaged in a conversation. To avoid this aggravation, more and more people with missing teeth are turning to a revolutionary alternative called the All-on-4® Treatment Concept.
Often referred to as a permanent denture, the All-on-4 Treatment Concept uses four dental implants to permanently attach a row of replacement teeth to the lower or upper jaw.
Not only does the All-on-4 Treatment Concept offer the look and feel of natural teeth, it eliminates the need for the messy adhesives to keep the denture in place. It also eliminates the need to remove the denture to clean and store overnight. All-on-4 Treatment Concept dentures stay in the mouth 24-hours-a-day, just like natural teeth. You care for the artificial teeth just as you would natural teeth.
Our dentist at Miami Beach Dental Center has completed training in the All-on-4 Treatment Concept, enabling us to offer our patients these hassle-free, no-slip dentures. Please call our office today at (786) 838-4176 to find out if the All-on-4 Treatment Concept is right for you.
Nobel Biocare, a world leader in dental technology, developed the All-on-4 dental implant treatment in 1998. Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have opted for All-on-4 dental implant therapy because it is less invasive than other procedures and prevents dentures from slipping.
With traditional dental implant surgery, patients often must make several trips to the dental office for bone grafts needed to build up the jawbone so it can support the implants. These bone grafts usually aren’t necessary with the All-on-4 treatment. Plus, the All-on-4 treatment system requires just four dental implants, instead of six or eight like other systems typically use. Patients, therefore, heal faster and are able to enjoy the benefits of their no-slip dentures sooner. The All-on-4 Treatment Concept is sometimes referred to as same-day teeth because, in some cases, the procedure can be completed during a single visit and patients leave the dental office with either a temporary denture or a permanent denture.
With fewer implants and less-invasive surgery, the All-on-4 treatment is typically less costly than traditional implant surgery.
After you’ve been comfortably sedated, the dentist or specialist will place four dental implants in the upper or lower jawbone to be attached to a complete denture or bridge; both terms mean a complete row of prosthetic teeth.
Two implants, which are basically tiny titanium posts, are placed directly into the jawbone in the front of your mouth and two more are inserted at a 45-degree angle in the back of your mouth. The 45-degree angle allows the dentist to place the implants deeper into the jawbone than is possible with traditional implants, eliminating the need for bone grafts.
Because titanium is compatible with human bone, the jawbone fuses around the implants in a few months, firmly and permanently locking your new implants in place. After the All-on-4 dental implants have fused with the jawbone, your temporary bridge or denture will be replaced with a permanent bridge or denture that is custom-made to match the shape and shade of your natural teeth. No one will know that your dentures supported by All-on-4 dental implants aren’t the real thing.
In addition to providing a strong support for a complete row of teeth, All-on-4 dental implants prevent the deterioration of the jawbone that naturally occurs when it no longer has roots to support it. This deterioration often gives removable denture wearers a gaunt appearance. With All-on-4 dental implants, your face maintains its proper proportions, giving you a younger appearance and a natural-looking smile that will last a lifetime.
