We are open - safety is our top priority!
Imagine having a whiter, beautiful smile before your business meeting, dinner date, or social event. Teeth whitening is one of the fastest cosmetic dentistry procedures, removing years of stains and discoloration in less than an hour.
Our team at Sunrise Dental Group provides two types of teeth whitening to help you achieve the beautiful smile you want in a way that fits both your budget and your lifestyle. You can relax in our office and walk out with a brighter smile that same day, or if you prefer something more private, we also have a take-home product that can whiten your teeth in less than two weeks simply by applying it for a few minutes each day.
Both types of teeth bleaching can provide dramatic results, especially when applied after a teeth cleaning. A professional cleaning removes any food particles and bacteria that can contribute to tooth stains. Call us today at (954) 246-4871 to schedule your appointment.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Dull, dingy, or discolored teeth can make anyone feel self-conscious nowadays. We all notice our teeth becoming less white and more yellow or grey as we age. That’s because the enamel, or the hard outer layer of the tooth, becomes thinner while the middle layer, or dentin, tends to grow darker. The color of your teeth is a combination of the light reflected off the enamel and the color of the dentin underneath, so as the enamel thins and the dentin darkens, our tooth color changes.
But that’s not the only cause of tooth stains. Everyone’s genetic makeup determines the thickness and smoothness of tooth enamel. Some of us might have thinner enamel—and more visible dentin—than others. Plus, enamel is porous, so some foods and beverages can seep through the enamel and affect your tooth color.
There are several causes of tooth discoloration, though. They include:
- Beverages such as coffee, tea, red wines, and colas
- Cigars, cigarettes, and other tobacco products
- Poor dental hygiene, which leads to tooth decay
- Certain medical treatments and medications
- Cracked or broken teeth, or other types of tooth trauma
If you’re getting dental work such as a crown, a bridge, a veneer or dentures, our dentist also might recommend that you whiten your natural teeth first. The dental porcelain used in such cosmetic and restorative treatments is color-matched to your natural teeth to blend. So if your natural teeth grow yellow, brown, or gray, the artificial tooth will stand out. Whitening your teeth after these procedures won’t affect the artificial tooth. Because they’re designed to be stain resistant, crowns, bridges, and other such dental fixtures don’t respond to whitening treatments.
Zoom® Teeth Whitening: Whiter Teeth in One Day
Sunrise Dental Group is proud to offer Zoom® WhiteSpeed teeth whitening treatment, the most requested professional teeth whitening brand in America. Relax in our office while you brighten your smile comfortably, even if you have sensitive teeth. This low-intensity treatment delivers a smile that’s up to eight shades whiter after just one appointment.
First, our hygienist or dentist in Plantation will confirm that you don’t have any cavities or gum disease. Then we’ll assess your current tooth color to adjust the duration of your treatment. Our dental professional will apply a hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, then turn on a special light that helps the gel penetrate the teeth and break up stains and discoloration. The one-day treatment is broken into three 15-minute sessions for a total treatment time of 45 minutes to ensure your comfort. You can read, watch TV, or listen to music while you wait and leave with a whiter smile when you’re finished.
Opalescence Go®: Whiten Your Teeth at Home
If you prefer a more discreet teeth whitening option, our office in Plantation provides Opalescence Go. This professional-strength product is available only from dentists but enables you to whiten your teeth on your own schedule. You can see measurable, impressive results in five to ten days.
Opalescence Go is safe, effective, and simple. The whitening trays are pre-packaged and ready to use right out of the box. It features innovative trays prefilled with a whitening gel that includes potassium nitrate and fluoride. Findings have shown that these ingredients help reduce cavities, minimize tooth sensitivity, increase the hardness of tooth enamel, and improve your teeth’s overall health.
To use Opalescence Go, center one of the trays over your upper or lower teeth. Then bite gently and suck down or swallow to secure the gel against your teeth. Remove the colored outer tray, which exposes a clear and comfortable inner tray that you’ll wear for the length of the treatment. The dual trays keep the gel from leaking onto your gums or otherwise causing discomfort.
How long you wear them depends on the concentration of whitening ingredients. Many people choose a 15% concentration worn for 15 to 20 minutes a day over five to ten days. Opalescence Go also comes in a 10% concentration that’s worn for about 30 to 60 minutes over the same length of time.
Once the time is up, just remove the disposable tray and brush your teeth, being careful not to swallow any remaining gel. You’ll see an incredible difference after the first few uses.
