COVID-19 Safety Message: Visit our practice with confidence – your safety is our top concern.
We’ve reopened in accordance with CDC, O.S.H.A., and State Dental Board guidelines to responsibly resume seeing our patients for regular dental appointments and treatment. We want to assure you of the measures we take to maintain a clean and safe environment so you can continue to receive needed dental care without fear or concern.
Get ready to say goodbye to dingy, yellow, or discolored teeth in less than an hour. Teeth whitening has become one of the most affordable, convenient, and fast methods of cosmetic dentistry. That’s because it helps remove years of stains and discoloration from your teeth essentially in minutes.
Our office in Miami has two whitening methods to help you achieve the radiant smile you want within your budget and your lifestyle. Perhaps you’d like to relax in our office while you whiten your teeth during one visit. If you prefer more privacy, you can take home an easy-to-use kit that will bleach your teeth professionally for about 15 minutes a day.
Whichever method you choose, you’ll see your teeth whiten several shades, especially after a professional tooth cleaning. A professional teeth cleaning removes any bacteria and food particles that can contribute to tooth stains or interfere with the whitening treatment.
Why Whiten Your Teeth?
Even if you’re diligent about your dental care, you might have noticed a change in your tooth color over time. Tooth color actually is a combination of the light reflected off the enamel (the hard outer layer of the tooth) and the color of the dentin (the middle layer) underneath. Our tooth color varies in in general because of our genetic makeup. For instance, people with thinner enamel have more visible dentin.
But everyone’s teeth can become less white, yellow, or otherwise discolored because of a variety of factors. As we age, tooth enamel thins and the dentin darkens. Enamel also is porous, so it’s vulnerable to color changes from certain foods, beverages, and other issues.
The most common causes of tooth discoloration include:
- Beverages such as coffee, tea, red wines, and colas
- Tobacco products
- Certain medical treatments and medications
- Tooth decay or trauma
- Poor dental hygiene
Upcoming dental work such as a crown, a bridge, a veneer or dentures is also a good reason to whiten your teeth. The dental porcelain used in such cosmetic and restorative treatments is color-matched to your natural teeth to blend in seamlessly. Because they’re stain resistant, these dental fixtures don’t respond to whitening treatments, so if you whiten your teeth later, your crown, bridge, or other dental work will be more noticeable.
Zoom QuickPro: Whiten Your Teeth after a Cleaning
If you’re already at our office for your regular teeth cleaning, why not get your teeth about four shades whiter? Simply ask our hygienist at Towncare Dental of West Kendall to apply Zoom QuickPro.
Zoom QuickPro is an affordable, convenient whitening treatment that uses dual-layer whitening technology to brighten teeth in minimal time. First, our hygienist will apply the whitening varnish to your clean teeth. Then an innovative sealant layer is applied that dries the varnish in seconds, locking it into place and keeping it from getting onto your gums.
You’ll leave your dental appointment with the invisible varnish still on your teeth. But after 30 minutes, you can wipe it off with your usual toothbrush or a paper towel, revealing your brighter smile.
Patients experience little to no tooth sensitivity. In fact, many like the results so much, they make Zoom QuickPro a part of their regular dental visit.
Opalescence Go®: Impressive Teeth Whitening at Home
Our office in Miami is also proud to carry Opalescence Go, a professional-strength teeth whitening product in a kit you can use at home, if you prefer to whiten your teeth discreetly on your own schedule. This professional-strength product is available only from dentists and produces impressive results in five to ten days.
Safe, effective, and simple, Opalescence Go is ready to use right out of the box. It features innovative trays prefilled with a whitening gel, so there’s no messy measuring or worrying whether you have the right amount. The gel includes potassium nitrate and fluoride, two ingredients that findings show that minimize tooth sensitivity, increase the hardness of tooth enamel, and help reduce cavities.
To begin your home treatment, just center one of the disposable trays over your upper or lower teeth. Then bite gently and swallow to secure the gel against your teeth. You’ll need to remove the colored outer tray, exposing the clear and comfortable inner tray containing the whitening gel.
Opalescence Go comes in two strengths to meet your needs. Many people choose a 15% concentration worn for 15 to 20 minutes a day over five to ten days. But you also can try a 10% concentration that’s worn for about 30 to 60 minutes over the same length of time.
Once your daily treatment is done, cleanup is easy. Simply throw away the tray and brush your teeth as you normally would.
