David Rua-Perez, DMD, MDS

Dr. David Rua-Perez, DMD, MDS is a surgically trained Prosthodontist. He graduated summa cum laude from Havana Dental School in Cuba. Over the next two years, he worked not only as a general dentist in Cuba but also as an oral surgeon and dental lab technician in Venezuela.

In 2012, Dr. Rua-Perez immigrated to the United States in search of freedom and a better future for his family. He completed his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey in 2017.

Driven by a desire to further his expertise and master the artistry of full-mouth reconstruction and dental implants, Dr. Rua-Perez pursued a full-time, three-year residency in Advanced Prosthodontics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center—a specialty program accredited by the American Dental Association. During his residency, he also earned a Master of Science in Dentistry degree, conducting research in dental biomaterials.

Dr. Rua-Perez received extensive training in both the surgical and complex prosthetic aspects of implant therapy, including bone grafting, sinus elevation, computer-guided surgery, hybrid prostheses, overdentures, removable partials, complete dentures, and the management of jaw disorders. In his final year, he served as Chief Resident and also taught part-time at the dental school clinic, supervising removable denture and crown procedures.

His interest in dentistry began at a young age after spending considerable time around dental professionals. At the age of 10, he suffered an accident that knocked out some of his front teeth. After years of treatment with skilled dental specialists, he regained his smile—a transformative experience that inspired him to pursue a career in dentistry.

Dr. Rua-Perez’s mission is to create a welcoming environment where patients are treated with dignity and compassion while receiving the highest standard of dental care. He treats each patient as if they were family, building life-long relationships based on trust and respect. Dr. Rua-Perez is committed to serving the Southwest region and helping patients with their complex dental needs.
