Benefits of the All-on-4 Implant-Supported Denture Treatment

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have opted for All-on-4 dental implant therapy because it is less invasive than other procedures and prevents annoying incidences of dentures slipping.

Traditional dental implant surgery often requires repeated visits to your dental office for bone grafts to build up the jawbone so it can support the implants. With the All-on-4 treatment, however, bone grafts are rarely needed. As a result, patients heal more quickly and are able to enjoy the comfort and natural appearance of their permanent dentures supported by All-on-4 dental implants sooner.

Many patients leave their implant-placement appointment with a temporary denture. In some cases, though, the permanent denture can be attached on the same day the implants are inserted. This is referred to as “teeth-in-a-day.” More often, though, you leave your appointment with a temporary denture, and then return to our office at a later date to have the permanent denture placed. Because All-on-4 dental implants require fewer implants and less-invasive surgery, it is typically less costly than traditional implant surgery.

How the All-on-4 Treatment Procedure Works

All-on-4 dental implant therapy uses four dental implants that look like tiny screws to permanently attach a complete denture or bridge to the upper or lower jaw.

After you've been comfortably sedated, the Dental Center of Kendall implant expert will place two titanium posts directly into the jawbone in the front of your mouth and two more titanium posts tilted at a 45-degree angle in the back of your mouth. The 45-degree angle allows the dentist to place the implants deeper into the jawbone than is possible with traditional implants so bone grafts that are common with traditional implant surgery are no longer necessary.

Because titanium is compatible with human bone, the jawbone will begin to fuse around the implants in a few months, permanently locking them in place. After the All-on-4 dental implants have fused with the jawbone, the patient will return to Dental Center of Kendall so the temporary denture can be replaced with a permanent one that is custom-made to match the shape and shade of the patient’s original teeth. With All-on-4 dental implants, your denture will feel and look like your natural teeth.

Additionally, All-on-4 dental implants prevent the deterioration of the jawbone that naturally occurs when it no longer has natural teeth and root to support it. This deterioration can give denture wearers a gaunt appearance.
