Teeth Cleanings for Children in Fort Lauderdale:

Topical Fluoride:

Fluoride is often called nature’s cavity fighter. Fluoride strengthens the surface of teeth so they are more resistant to decay.

Dental Sealants:

Our children’s dentist in Fort Lauderdale can apply a thin plastic resin coating on your child’s back teeth. That coating seals the little grooves on the chewing surfaces of those teeth to prevent food particles and bacteria from getting trapped.

A sealed tooth is far less likely to develop a cavity, which can save your child tooth pain and the need for more extensive treatment like a filling or crown. Best of all, the sealing process is painless, and can last for years.

Fillings:

Space Maintainers:

If your child loses a baby tooth due to an accident, dental decay, or for any other reason, our children’s dentist may place a space maintainer in the child’s mouth. Space maintainers keep that space open so the permanent tooth will have room to come in. They can also be useful with pre-orthodontic treatment.

Mouthguards:

If your child plays sports, we highly recommend a mouthguard. The American Dental Association recommends people wear mouthguards for dozens of sports activities, including skateboarding, basketball, football, martial arts, field hockey, gymnastics, and wrestling.

You can purchase a boil-and-bite mouthguard at most sports stores, but our children’s dentist at Towncare Dental of Fort Lauderdale can create a custom-made mouthguard that will be more comfortable and better protect your child’s teeth.

And while some kids may complain about wearing a mouthguard, just remind them that the consequence could be getting a tooth knocked out.
